You Comment, I Follow [Update]

You comment, I follow. This is just a quick update to let you know that I am joining the “You Comment, I Follow” aka “dofollow” movement. This movement has been going on for awhile now. If you don’t know, urls/links in blog comments are not crawled by search engines due to the “nofollow” tag automatically added to them. This is not fair to those who comment on those blogs because it blocks them from getting link love or “Google Juice“.

If you want to participate in this movement, you can find out more about it here & download the WordPress plugin that goes along with it there as well. You can find the “U Comment, I Follow” badges (as pictured above) here. There’s also a plugin for Movable Type as well, if you use that.

If you’re up for it, there’s a more involved, feature rich “dofollow” WordPress plugin here as well. This one supposedly helps decrease the amount of spam comments you receive. The thing about this plugin though, is that it does not follow first time commenters, so be aware of that.

So, by joining this movement, I’m helping you guys since every time you comment on my blog (and include a link) you will be gaining a new backlink to your blog! So with that being said, comment away & I hope you’ll join this movement as well. Us bloggers do need to stick together.

You Comment, I Follow.Feverish Thoughts has a great ongoing list of dofollow bloggers. If you decide to join the movement, head over there so that you can get your blog added as well. You should also check out & comment on some of the other blogs that are in the movement as well. She also has a few badges on her site also for you to use!

I have also joined the dofollow movement.

I think bloggers today write a lot more than they read. I think we must all realize that blogging is about reaching out to readers. It is also about realizing that the readers are themselves writers with their own ideas.

I find it a learning experience to follow my readers who leave comments to read their posts.

I really do think that the no follow movement is opening up the world of blogs. It allows for a greater varierty of comments as well! Now anyone can comment on your blog and will not be offput by the no follow status. ALL HAIL DO FOLLOW
